CENGN Partners with TELUS and Kanata North Business Association to Support Hub350 and Drive Technology Innovation in Canada


Yesterday, the Kanata North Business Association (KNBA) officially launched Hub350 with a grand opening event. Hub350 is a brand-new collaboration space for industry, academic and finance partners to work together in the heart of Kanata North, Canada’s largest technology park. CENGN is proud to partner with KNBA, TELUS, and other industry leaders to make Hub350 a space that drives innovation in the region and Canada.

World Leading Technology Centre in a Prime Location

Hub350 is a world-leading technology centre dedicated to fostering a vibrant environment of innovation, collaboration, and creativity. It’s designed to attract talent and fuel growth in Kanata North, a key technology region of Canada. Ninety percent of Canada’s telecom research and development takes place in Kanata North Technology Park, making it the country’s biggest innovation region in the sector and all the more important to continue to grow (Source: Ottawa Business Journal.) Hub350 is located directly in Kanata North and will focus on enabling corporate growth, academic connections, financial support, 5G innovation, and a connected tech community.

5G

TELUS’ 5G Innovation Zone, powered by Canada’s fastest mobile network, is located directly in Hub350 as a part of the Kanata North Technology Park. It will allow businesses to test their products for real-world applications in a 5G lab that is a completely autonomous and controlled environment.

CENGN is proud to support its long-time member, TELUS, on the growth and acceleration of their 5G Innovation Zone. The 5G Innovation Zone will enable conceptualizing, developing, testing, and commercializing of real-world applications for 5G. CENGN will be providing infrastructure and commercialization services to the 5G Innovation Zone, building a Canadian ecosystem with small to medium enterprises and multinationals to bring innovations to market.

The Grand Opening Event

The grand opening event took place on location, at 350 Legget Drive in Kanata North. The event consisted of a great line-up of speakers from the many partners involved, including KNBA, Invest Ottawa, RBCx, TELUS, and more. Attendees also had the opportunity to network and form connections with colleagues and other technology leaders in Kanata.

Terry Matthews, Founder and Chairman of Wesley Clover International, spoke about the importance of the technology hub and how it will contribute to the global digital revolution. “There is a global overhaul of the entire world’s communication network,” he explained, referring to the importance of leveraging and supporting the technology companies we have right here in the nation’s capital. Kanata North is filled with talented individuals and organizations that have the opportunity to compete on a global scale.

The keynote speaker of the event, Ibrahim Gedeon, Chief Technology Officer at TELUS, closed off the presentations by talking about the future of 5G in Canada. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in the era of 5G to enable technology innovation within the industry. Ibrahim noted three critical factors for the success of Hub350, including chemistry between the people involved, an end-to-end ecosystem, and metrics to track the sustainable and intellectual wealth for the region in Canada.

It was great to see all the collaboration at the event yesterday. Hub350 will act as a supercharger for the future innovation, community, and growth set to take place in the national capital region and CENGN is excited to take part.
