More Innovation:
Saving Businesses Time with Cortera AI’s Data Analyzing Solution
Published on October 18, 2019
Cortera is a small Toronto-based start-up out of the University of Toronto. Finding a niche in the financial sector, Cortera provides AI software products for financial enterprises that augment the decision-making process to help their business become more efficient, effective and agile.
The company has gained early traction with preliminary clients and is supported by the MaRS Venture Program as well as Communitech. Their goal is to make convenient AI technology accessible to every single business in the world, and they have come to CENGN to start making that dream a reality.
Information Overload
Large corporations often have trouble with unstructured and poorly managed customer and partner data, which makes onboarding new clients or vendors difficult. Bringing new clients on usually requires a lot of manual data checks, especially when dealing with multiple CRM software and databases. That large gap of time means delays for a company to do business with a new client or make their orders from new vendors. Due to this, operations can stagnate, and potential revenue can be lost.
Cortera has recognized this problem and developed a solution that uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) to organize, filter and analyze data systems accurately and efficiently.
Artificial Intelligence, Material Results
NLP is a commonly used type of Machine Learning (ML) that processes human language. It is used everyday for things like predictive text (think Google autofill or spell-check) or even automated captions.
Cortera’s solution for large financial and corporate enterprises, uses an NLP AI model to automatically verify data across an enterprise’s multiple databases and public sources.
Their AI model solution, named DVM (Data Verification & Matching), reduces the time spent on manual verification, which can save company’s money in the long run, both in onboarding new clients and the turnaround time to making orders from vendors.
Improving Solutions with AI Training
As an AI solution, DVM can currently match contact data using Fuzzy Logic and predictive analytics at 40% accuracy. To improve upon these numbers and reach a goal of 75% accuracy, Cortera will be training their AI model on the CENGN testbed. Improving DVM’s accuracy will enhance the product’s value and credibility, leading to a larger number of market opportunities.
CENGN Advantage
Cortera will be given access to CENGN’s infrastructure services and technical expertise to help them complete their cloud project. They will be given access to CENGN’s commercial-grade GPU to carry out model training, as well as a cloud tenancy, which will be used for monitoring purposes.
Cortera will use these resources to train their AI model against a set of known data. The AI model will be trained with tuning adjustments until the data reaches 75% accuracy against the known data set.
As an added bonus to their project, Cortera will have the opportunity to use Prometheus during this project. Prometheus is an open source software application used for event monitoring and alerting. It records real-time metrics in a time series database, with flexible queries and real-time alerting. Prometheus will be used on the CENGN cloud to continually measure the resource usage of the AI solution, to provide Cortera with the ability to also improve the scalability and efficiency of DVM.
The most significant benefit of the CENGN project is an offering of expensive resources that are required for AI training. The resources accessible at CENGN are, for the most part, out of the reach of growing Canadian businesses, and CENGN is lowering the barrier of access to commercial grade hardware by providing free validation and testing. CENGN’s enhanced, isolated and secure environment will accelerate the training process and our validation will give Cortera a foundation of credibility as they enter the market.
The team at CENGN is looking forward to working with and advising Cortera as they train their AI model!
Cortera AI is a growing Canadian business that is using the services at CENGN through the Next Generation Network Program (NGNP). The NGNP is a Government of Ontario program offered through a partnership between CENGN and the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) that is providing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Ontario access to the CENGN Testbed. CENGN’s digital infrastructure is connecting SMEs like Cortera AI to state-of-the-art equipment and network services, which will allow these companies to test and validate their solutions.
