CloudOps Visits CENGN HQ to Teach GKE and Google Cloud!
CENGN’s HQ was the place to be last week for Ottawa and Gatineau techies, as industry professionals and academics gathered together to attend the GKE Knowledge Transfer and Demo Workshop! The training session was geared towards people curious to understand more about GKE, and towards workers who have already leveraged Google Cloud in the past and wanted to broaden their understanding of the container solution.
The workshop was offered in partnership with our good friends at CloudOps, a company that specializes in cloud consulting and services focused on open source, cloud platforms, networking, and DevOps. They have a great track record, successfully helping hundreds of enterprises and web-based companies build their business on the cloud, so it was an honour to host their GKE workshop for the Ottawa community!
In this action-packed workshop, attendees were given an overview on the history of Docker, a tool designed to make it easier to create, deploy, and run applications by using containers, and Kubernetes, a container platform that orchestrates computing, networking, and storage infrastructure workloads for us. Then, the workshop went into depth on the Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), which is a managed, production-ready environment for deploying containerized applications. It is extremely useful to our current environment and the future of tech as it can deploy a wide variety of applications, operate seamlessly with high availability, scale effortlessly to meet demand, run securely on Google’s network, and move freely between on-premises and clouds.
The GKE Knowledge Transfer and Demo workshop was one of many thorough, hands-on training courses offered through CENGN Academy. Through the academy, and with the help of our members and partners at companies like Cisco, Juniper Networks, The Cloud Native Computing Foundation, we offer various programs that offer the knowledge and skills on the latest and greatest technologies in next generation networking and the ICT sector!
Training has become a vital aspect of CENGN! We place great emphasis on providing interactive courses to our student interns and the community to help strengthen the network talent pool to support a growing sector of innovative businesses. With a stronger talent pool, we can solidify our nation’s global competitiveness and contribute to nationwide economic prosperity.
Thanks to CloudOps and all our attendees for making this workshop such a hit! We can’t wait to see you all again.
