CENGN Student Shaun Gordon developing automation script as part of internship
Shaun Gordon is working with cutting-edge technology at CENGN, and as a software engineering student, he’s on his way to gaining the skills that will enable him to excel in the high-tech industry.
At CENGN, the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering Student is engaged in writing a python script that allows the team to migrate from one data management tool to another.
“I’ve worked on projects similar to this in the past,” said the third-year Carleton University student. “At my previous job, though, I was only working with one device, whereas at CENGN I’m trying to automate the entry for multiple devices.”
Shaun is learning OpenStack, Docker and Kubernetes during his term as an intern, and works on large projects in languages such as Python.
As the subject of our Student Spotlight series for the Winter 2019 Term, Shaun says the ability to work in a team is a key trait required by the CENGN Cloud Infrastructure Engineer.
“Every project I work on has multiple people who I’m asking for help, or they’re asking me for help. I’m talking with people everyday,” he said.
Shaun reveals that by learning how applications are deployed will greatly assist him in his goal toward becoming a software engineer for ground-breaking technologies.
“Understanding the overall structure of development into deployment is definitely going to help me in my career,” he said.
